17-year-old UK student invents a fix for rats damaging railway cables during work placement; 63 more installations planned as he secures a job

Jackson Hall, a York College T-Level student, invented a polycarbonate screen that stops rats and other animals chewing through electric cables in signal boxes. He designed it on placement at AGH Engineering. Network Rail has fitted it at two Leeds-area signal boxes, AGH has been asked to quote for 65, and Jackson has been offered a job.
