Assam: Akhil Gogoi Leads Massive Public Meeting in Nazira

Assam: Sivasagar MLA and Raijor Dal chief Akhil Gogoi addressed a large public gathering at Dopdhar Hatkhola in Nazira constituency of Sivasagar district, demanding adequate compensation and government action for families affected by the recent devastation in Upper Assam. The meeting was organised by the Raijor Dal and was attended by thousands of people. Gogoi raised the issue of compensation for those affected by the disaster and pressed for financial assistance for families and businesses that suffered losses. Addressing the gathering, Gogoi demanded Rs 10 lakh compensation for every affected family and Rs 10 lakh for each damaged business establishment. He also demanded that every affected family be brought under the Orunodoi scheme to provide them with continued financial support. Gogoi further called for a CBI investigation against those he alleged were responsible for the major disaster in Upper Assam. He also demanded that the situation be treated as a national disaster and that appropriate measures be taken accordingly. The Raijor Dal chief Akhil Gogoi said the demands were aimed at ensuring proper assistance and relief for people who suffered losses in the disaster. The public meeting at Dopdhar Hatkhola comes amid demands for greater government support and compensation for affected people across Upper Assam.
