Assam: Private Pool Allegedly Used for Business in Goalpara

Assam: Allegations have surfaced against a doctor in Goalpara over the alleged commercial use of a private swimming pool , with claims of objectionable activities taking place at the premises, according to a report on Saturday. The swimming pool, reportedly owned by doctor Gaurav Saha, is located close to Goalpara Sadar Police Station. According to allegations, the pool was constructed on his private land and was being used by some young men and women in exchange for money. Some video clips purportedly showing a young man and woman at the swimming pool have also surfaced on social media. Liquor bottles were also reportedly found near the pool. According to the initial report, a team of the Goalpara unit of the All Assam Students' Union ( AASU ) visited the swimming pool on Saturday to inspect the premises. According to the students' organisation, Saha arrived at the spot after the team reached the swimming pool and allegedly objected to their presence. He reportedly questioned why they had entered his private property and asked them to leave. The AASU team said that after an argument, Saha left the spot on a motorcycle. The matter was subsequently brought to the attention of the police. Police personnel later reached the swimming pool and prohibited public entry to the premises. Questions have now been raised over whether a private swimming pool can be used for commercial purposes without the required permission. Concerns have also been raised over safety arrangements at the premises. The allegations further claim that the CCTV system at the swimming pool was not functioning. The AASU team has questioned who would be responsible if any untoward incident occurred at the premises in the absence of adequate safety arrangements. The students' organisation has urged the Goalpara district administration to look into the matter and take appropriate action.
