BRICS talks focus on securing fertiliser supplies as India faces mounting subsidy burden

The BRICS summit held between September 12 and 13 took up the issue of fertiliser supplies within the 11 member nations. India imports nearly 30 per cent of its fertilizer needs from more than 10 countries, with the subsidy outlay likely to surpass Budget estimates by more than Rs 70,000 crore in FY27.
