Deogarh: Man climbs mobile tower after wife taken away by her family

Deogarh: Distressed reportedly over his wife being taken away her family members, a youth allegedly attempted suicide by climbing a mobile network tower in Deogarh district on Wednesday. According to reports, the man, identified as Laba Naik of Jhumapura village, had lost his first wife a few years after their marriage. He later fell in love with a woman from a nearby area and brought her home on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan. However, at around 4 pm on Wednesday, the woman’s family members reportedly arrived at Laba’s house and took her back with them. Following the incident, Laba allegedly became distressed and climbed a mobile network tower located along the roadside near Jhumapura in an apparent suicide attempt. On being alerted by locals, personnel from Barkote police station and the Fire Services Department reached the spot. As per the latest reports, the police and fire personnel were trying to persuade Laba to climb down from the tower safely. A large crowd gathered at the spot following the incident.
