HYDRAA receives 47 complaints on layout encroachments

Residents of Legend Chimes Phase 2 in Kokapet told the HYDRAA public grievance programme that walls were being built between Phase 1 and Phase 2 of the same [...] <p class="isSelectedEnd"><strong>HYDERABAD: </strong>Residents seek action against layout encroachments and road blockages, with complaints also highlighting illegal constructions, parks being converted into plots and pollution of a water body.</p> <p class="isSelectedEnd">Residents of Legend Chimes Phase 2 in Kokapet told the HYDRAA public grievance programme that walls were being built between Phase 1 and Phase 2 of the same layout, leaving even residents of neighbouring colonies without access. They appealed to HYDRAA officials to provide access and prevent disputes among residents.</p> <p class="isSelectedEnd">Residents of the seventh phase of KPHB Colony complained that a seven-storey building was being constructed on an 80-square-yard plot without permissions for the upper floors. They submitted photographs and videos, saying the construction could pose a threat to neighbouring houses if it was not stopped immediately.</p> <h3>Residents flag encroachments on government and park land</h3> <p class="isSelectedEnd">Residents of Santosh Nagar Colony in Mehdipatnam said government land was being encroached upon by those constructing apartments in the area. They urged HYDRAA to develop the land as a green belt.</p> <p class="isSelectedEnd">Residents of Pasumamula village in Abdullapurmet mandal, Ranga Reddy district, alleged that land earmarked for a park was being encroached upon and converted into plots. They sought immediate action.</p> <p class="isSelectedEnd">A total of 47 complaints were received at the HYDRAA public grievance programme. HYDRAA commissioner A V Ranganath examined the complaints and reviewed their background on the spot before assigning responsibility for their resolution to the concerned officials.</p> <h3>Residents seek protection of parks, roads and water bodies</h3> <p class="isSelectedEnd">Residents of Mahadevpuram Colony in Gajularamaram, Quthbullapur mandal, said the colony had been developed over 167 acres, with up to 80,000 square yards earmarked for parks and public amenities. They alleged that the parks were being converted into plots and that nearly half of the earmarked areas had been encroached upon. They urged HYDRAA to remove the encroachments and protect land reserved for parks and public requirements.</p> <p class="isSelectedEnd">Residents of Dwarakapuri Colony in Bolarum, Secunderabad, complained about a large old well beside a road. They said the well, once used for agriculture and drinking water, had become a dumping ground and that medical waste was also being dumped there.</p> <p class="isSelectedEnd">Residents said the dumping had caused a foul smell and made it difficult to use the road. They also alleged that groundwater was being polluted. They requested HYDRAA to fill the well with soil generated during its lake-development works and develop the site as a park.</p> <p class="isSelectedEnd">The Mahadevpuram Development Forum urged HYDRAA to develop Pariki Cheruvu in Gajularamaram, Quthbullapur mandal. It said the lake, which once had clean water, had become polluted after industrial waste and sewage entered it.</p> <p class="isSelectedEnd">The forum said residents in surrounding areas were falling ill and that groundwater contamination had led to skin ailments and respiratory problems. It requested HYDRAA to include Pariki Cheruvu among the water bodies being restored by the agency.</p> <h3>Residents allege encroachment of temple land and layouts</h3> <p class="isSelectedEnd">Residents of Chintalmet village in Rajendranagar mandal, Ranga Reddy district, said land belonging to the Sri Hasthala Veerabhadra Swamy temple and an old water pond were being encroached upon. They alleged that the land was being converted into plots for sale and that unauthorised constructions were being taken up.</p> <p class="isSelectedEnd">The residents urged HYDRAA to intervene and protect the temple land and the old water pond.</p> <p class="isSelectedEnd">Residents of Saikrishna Nagar in Ankushapur village, Ghatkesar mandal, Medchal-Malkajgiri district, complained about encroachments on parks and roads in the layout.</p> <p class="isSelectedEnd">They said an 18-acre layout had been developed under the names Saikrishna Nagar A, B and C in survey numbers 212, 231 and 209. Since plots in survey number 209 were not sold, the layout was cancelled up to that survey number.</p> <p class="isSelectedEnd">The A and B sectors in survey numbers 212 and 231 contain around 300 plots. Some plots were sold and layout regularisation scheme (LRS) approval was obtained for some of them in 2011.</p> Residents alleged that the heirs of those who had sold the land were now trying to encroach upon parks and roads in the A and B sectors and convert them into plots for sale. They appealed to HYDRAA to protect the parks and roads.
