J&K , Ladakh Hold 2nd UT-Level JCC Meeting on Narcotics Control in Srinagar

Srinagar, September 7: The 2nd Union Territory-level Joint Coordination Committee (JCC) meeting on narcotics control for Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh was held at the Police Control Room in Srinagar on Monday, with senior officers deliberating on strengthening the fight against drug trafficking and dismantling illicit networks. The meeting was chaired jointly by the Deputy Director General (NWR), Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), and the Inspector General of Police, Crime/Head of the Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF), J&K Police. Senior officers from several enforcement and stakeholder agencies, including the Enforcement Directorate (ED), Border Security Force (BSF), State Drug Controller, Intelligence Bureau (IB), Customs, Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI), Income Tax Department and National Investigation Agency (NIA), besides District SSPs of Jammu, Srinagar and Ganderbal, participated in the meeting. During the meeting, participating agencies shared their experiences and enforcement initiatives and discussed emerging trends in drug trafficking, inter-State linkages and illicit cultivation. The officers also deliberated on information sharing, joint investigations, financial investigations and measures to ensure effective prosecution of narcotics-related cases. The meeting also reviewed the implementation of the ‘Vision Document on Drug Control (2026–2029)’ launched by Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation Amit Shah during the 10th apex-level meeting of the Narco-Coordination Centre (NCORD) in New Delhi on June 26, 2026. Officials stressed the need to adopt a network-centric approach to tackle the drug menace and called for greater coordination among enforcement agencies. Emphasis was also laid on joint interrogation, effective financial investigation and enhanced use of existing information-sharing mechanisms. The meeting concluded with a call for sustained cooperation among all stakeholder agencies and the adoption of a Whole-of-Government approach to detect, disrupt and dismantle drug trafficking networks operating in Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh.
