Kendrapara Drainage Division Engineer arrested with Rs 7.15 lakh cash by Vigilance

The Odisha Vigilance Department has arrested Anupama Sahu, an Assistant Executive Engineer of the Kendrapara Drainage Division, after allegedly catching her with Rs 3.15 lakh in cash. The arrest was made as part of a vigilance operation, following which officials conducted searches at her residence and recovered an additional Rs 4 lakh in cash. According to the Vigilance Department, a total of Rs 7.15 lakh in cash was seized from Sahu during the operation. The officials have also launched an investigation into her financial assets and properties to determine their value and the sources of income used to acquire them. Vigilance Probe Uncovers Multiple Properties During the investigation, Vigilance officials reportedly traced bank deposits worth around Rs 63 lakh in Sahu’s name. A flat in Bhubaneswar was also identified during the searches. Vigilance officials have also identified several plots of land, including one in Bhubaneswar, three in Angul and one in Dhenkanal. The department is now examining the value of these properties and verifying whether the assets are in proportion to Sahu’s known sources of income. Investigation Into Assets Continues Following the seizure of the cash and the discovery of multiple properties and bank deposits, Anupama Sahu was arrested in connection with the case. The Vigilance Department said its investigation is continuing, with officials examining the complete details of her financial transactions, properties, and other assets. Further action will be taken based on the findings of the ongoing probe.
