‘Large-Scale Agitation If Talks Fail’: Wangchuk Issues Fresh Warning To Centre Over Ladakh Demands

Ladakh activist Sonam Wangchuk has warned of a “very large-scale agitation” if the Centre fails to make concrete progress on the Leh Apex Body’s key demands. The LAB’s sub-committee will meet Ministry of Home Affairs officials in Delhi on September 9, while the proposed Kargil-to-Leh march has been postponed for now. Wangchuk says the march could return if talks fail. LAB is seeking Ladakh legislation, Article 371 safeguards, withdrawal of post-violence cases, compensation for victims, and publication of the inquiry report, amid renewed focus on last year’s Leh violence.
