Mahanadi water dispute will be resolved soon, says Chhattisgarh CM

Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai has said that the Mahanadi water dispute between Odisha and Chhattisgarh is likely to be resolved soon. Sai made the statement while speaking to the media during his two-day visit to Odisha. He said that the Chief Ministers of both states have already held discussions in New Delhi over the issue and have agreed to accept the decision of the Central Water Commission (CWC). According to Sai, both Odisha and Chhattisgarh have given their consent to the CWC for taking a decision on the matter. He said both states would abide by whatever decision is taken by the commission. He attributed the possibility of an early resolution to the fact that the BJP is in power in both Odisha and Chhattisgarh, while the NDA is in power at the Centre. “Wherever there is a BJP government, water disputes have been resolved,” Sai said, expressing confidence that the Mahanadi issue would be settled very soon. During his Odisha visit, Sai also said he would travel to Puri to seek the blessings of Lord Jagannath for the people of Chhattisgarh.
