IV Additional Sessions Judge J Vikram delivered the verdict in Sessions Case No. 282 of 2021, arising from Crime No. 110 of 2020 of SR Nagar police station. The accused was convicted under Sections 302, 379 and 201 of the Indian Penal Code.
Police traced accused using scientific evidence
According to the complaint lodged by P Pradeep, 28, a resident of Vikas Puri Colony near AG Colony, his father P Ramesh, 50, left home at 6.30pm on February 1, 2020, saying he was going to Borabanda. He did not return home. At 8.30pm that day, Ramesh received a call from his friend Sai and told him that he was at a friend's house. At 10.30am on February 2, a WhatsApp message was received on Ramesh's daughter-in-law's phone from Ramesh's mobile number. When the family tried to call him afterwards, there was no response and the phone was switched off. Based on the family's complaint, police registered a case and began an investigation. Police subsequently arrested the accused using scientific evidence and produced him before the court.
Police, prosecution team named in case
The investigation was conducted by S Muralikrishna, inspector of police, SR Nagar police station, and V Narasimha Reddy, inspector of police, who filed the chargesheet. Srivani appeared as the additional public prosecutor, while Asif Ali represented the defence. Manpati Balaram, PC 30792 of SR Nagar division, served as the court duty officer and B Kripendra, PC 3974, handled process duty.
