Odisha: Lift Irrigation Corporation JE arrested in DA case

Bhubaneswar: The Vigilance sleuths have arrested a Junior Engineer (JE) of Odisha Lift Irrigation Corporation (OLIC) in Baleshwar district for possessing disproportionate assets (DA). Subrat Mohanty, the JE of OLIC Baleshwar Division, allegedly possessed DA amounting over 123 per cent of his known sources of income. The Odisha Vigilance has registered a case in this regard against Mohanty and his spouse under Sections 13(2), 13(1)(b) and 12 of the Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018. Mohanty was earlier working at the OLIC, Udala Sub-Division, in Mayurbhanj district. “The accused JE has been produced in a Special Vigilance Court in Baleshwar,” said an official. Mohanty had earlier been arrested on charges of taking Rs 60,000 as bribe from a contractor to clear his pending bills.
