Pitri Matri Vandana: Special Leave for Eligible Assam Employees

The Directorate of Secondary Education, Assam , has issued instructions regarding the grant of two days of special casual leave under the state government’s “Matri Pitri Vandana" scheme for eligible employees. As per an official notification issued by the Director of Secondary Education, Assam, Mamata Hojai, the special casual leave will be available on August 29 and August 31, 2026. The leave is specifically meant for state government employees under the Directorate who could not avail themselves of the special casual leave earlier due to the Budget Session , 2026. According to the notification, the General Administration Department of the Assam government had issued a notification on August 4, 2026, announcing the two-day special casual leave under the Pitri Matri Vandana scheme. However, the benefit on August 29 and August 31 will only be available to those employees working under the Directorate of Secondary Education who were unable to avail the leave during the earlier notified period because of the Budget Session. The Directorate has clarified that the provision is not applicable to all employees indiscriminately and will be limited to those who meet the specified condition. The Director of Secondary Education has directed the Inspectors of Schools across Assam to take note of the provision and undertake necessary action.
