Sonapur Passenger Vehicle Accident Leaves 6 Injured, 1 Critical

Six people, including the driver and handyman of a passenger vehicle , were injured after the vehicle hit a road divider on National Highway 27 in Assam’s Sonapur area, police and local residents said. The accident took place at Chamta under Sonapur police station in Dimoria when a Maxximo vehicle bearing registration number AS01SC1587, travelling from Jagiroad towards Guwahati, rammed into a divider on the highway. The impact left six people injured, with one of them reported to be in a serious condition. Following the accident, local residents and commuters rushed to the spot and helped rescue the injured passengers from the vehicle. The injured were subsequently taken to Sonapur District Hospital in private four-wheelers arranged by local residents. The incident also led to anger among people at the spot over the alleged delay in the toll plaza's ambulance service. According to local residents, the ambulance stationed at the toll plaza reached the accident site more than 30 minutes after the incident. The delay in providing emergency medical assistance to the injured drew strong criticism from people present at the spot. Residents also questioned why emergency ambulance services were not available promptly despite frequent accidents on the national highway. The exact cause of the accident is yet to be ascertained.
