In Champua’s Mangalpur, 60-year-old Matai Munda has been bedridden after an accident, while his wife Masuri also suffers from a hand injury. The family has no government allowance and lives in a damaged house where sunlight enters during the day, stars are visible at night and rainwater leaks inside. In Mohana’s Merama, Gobinda Nayak and Jitendra Nayak are also living in damaged houses with their families after losing safer shelter. In Bhadrak’s Fatepur, 68-year-old Jayadev Muduli and his ailing wife Basanti have neither a pucca house nor government assistance. The Panchayati Raj Minister informed the Assembly that 28,42,020 households in Odisha were initially found eligible for pucca houses under PMAY-G after the AwaasPlus-2024 survey.
