TG SAFE finds food safety violations at seven Hyderabad restaurants

Six teams comprising Food Safety Officers and police personnel conducted the inspections at Chutneys, Spice 6 and Ohri’s in Banjara Hills; [...] <p class="isSelectedEnd"><strong>HYDERABAD: </strong>Enforcement teams of the Telangana Standards Authority for Food and Essential Drugs (TG SAFE) inspected seven restaurants in Hyderabad's core urban region during a special drive on Saturday and found several food safety violations.</p> <p class="isSelectedEnd">Six teams comprising Food Safety Officers and police personnel conducted the inspections at Chutneys, Spice 6 and Ohri's in Banjara Hills; The Spicy Venue in Jubilee Hills; 4 Seasons Multicuisine Restaurant and Shah Ghouse Restaurant in Tolichowki; and Pista House Restaurant in Gachibowli.</p> <p class="isSelectedEnd">Officials found hygiene-related violations at some restaurants, besides expired food articles and lapses in the handling and storage of food.</p> <p class="isSelectedEnd">They also found spoiled vegetables, violations of the Food Safety and Standards (FSS) Labelling and Display Regulations and pest infestation.</p> <p class="isSelectedEnd">Following the inspections, TG SAFE officials lifted 11 food samples on suspicion of adulteration. Four improvement notices and three show-cause notices were also issued.</p> The authority said photographs and videos of the inspections had been forwarded for publication in print and electronic media.
