Following the rescue of five baby orangutans from Odisha's Balasore district on September 8, one of the young primates developed a recurring fever at the Nandankanan Zoological Park. The illness is believed to be caused by environmental stress and adaptation difficulties. To address this, the Odisha government formed a five-member technical committee, assigning 24/7 medical supervision, specialized diets, and music therapy. Meanwhile, the Odisha Police Special Task Force and the Wildlife Crime Control Bureau are intensifying their ongoing investigation into the international smuggling ring behind the trafficking.
