Assam: Man Allegedly Kills Wife, Dies by Suicide in Biswanath

A 50-year-old man allegedly killed his wife before taking his own life following a domestic dispute in Biswanath district on Thursday. The incident occurred in the Balighat area, where the couple’s bodies were later recovered from their residence. According to the report, the husband allegedly attacked his wife with a machete following an argument and subsequently injured himself with the same weapon. Both sustained critical injuries and later died from severe blood loss. An investigating officer said police recovered the blood-stained bodies from the couple’s house. They were subsequently taken to a nearby government hospital, where doctors declared both of them dead. The police inquiry suggests that the couple frequently had disagreements over family and financial matters. Police said they had reportedly been involved in an argument on Wednesday night as well. However, the exact circumstances and motive behind the incident have not yet been established. Also, no family members were present at the residence when the incident took place, making it difficult for investigators to immediately determine what transpired inside the house. The husband allegedly killed his wife before leaving the house for a brief period. Residents reportedly noticed him and alerted the police. However, before the police team could reach the location, he allegedly returned to the residence and injured himself with the same weapon. By the time police arrived, both the husband and wife were found critically injured inside the house. The authorities recovered their bodies and initiated an investigation into the incident.
