Fishing trip turns tragic: Odisha youth drowns in river, elder brother missing

Two youths, who happen to be brothers, had gone fishing and met with a tragic mishap in the Sapua River near Ichhapur under Athagarh police limits in Cuttack district on Thursday. The younger brother died after drowning, while the elder brother remains missing. The incident occurred when the two brothers had gone to the river to catch fish. During the activity, both were swept away by the water. Soon after the incident, local villagers launched a frantic search in the river in an attempt to locate the duo. Fire Services And Villagers Continue Search For Missing Man During the search operation, Pintu’s body was recovered from the river. However, despite continued efforts for hours, there has been no information about Mantu’s whereabouts so far. The search was underway till the time this report was filed. The operation is likely to be halted after the fall of night. No comments were received either from the victims’ family or local police in this regard. After being alerted about the incident, a team from the local Fire Services Department reached the spot and began a search operation for the missing man. The incident has plunged the family into grief, and a pall of gloom descended on the village.
