After receiving information, the Forest Department reached the spot and safely rescued all five orangutans before taking them to a hospital for health examinations. Two of the five orangutans are reportedly female. The PCCF confirmed that the animals found in Bichitrapur forest are orangutans and said an investigation will be conducted to determine where and how they arrived there. Arrangements have been made to keep the rescued orangutans at Nandankanan. Orangutans are generally not found in Indian forests.
