Ganja smuggling under guise of cashew shells: Odisha Police arrest 2 in major crackdown, 10 quintals seized

Ganja smugglers appear to be constantly changing their tactics to evade the police. From using vehicles carrying rice, potatoes and milk to conceal contraband, smugglers have now found another unusual cover in the name of cashew shells. In a major crackdown, Firingia police in Kandhamal district on Monday have foiled an attempt to transport ganja from Kandhamal to Maharashtra under the guise of carrying cashew shells. Acting on specific information, police intercepted a truck suspected of being involved in the illegal transportation. During a search of the vehicle, officers discovered a huge quantity of ganja concealed in the truck. Two Arrested, Over 10 Quintals Seized Police arrested two persons in connection with the seizure. One of the accused is reportedly the truck driver, while the other is involved in the ganja trade. According to police, a total of 10 quintals and 25 kilograms of ganja were recovered from the vehicle. The operation was reportedly carried out after police received information from a reliable source about ganja being transported in a cashew-shell-loaded truck. The seizure reflects the changing methods adopted by drug smugglers to transport contraband across state borders. Police have foiled the latest attempt and arrested the two accused persons. Further investigation is expected to establish more details about the alleged smuggling operation, including the intended destination and those involved in the network.
