Illegal firearms unit busted in Odisha’s Ganjam; 5 guns seized, 3 held
Bhubaneswar: The police have busted an illegal gun manufacturing unit in Odisha’s Ganjam district and arrested three persons in this connection. The cops have seized five country-made guns from the accused persons. Acting on a tip-off, a team of Tarasing police raided the illegal gun manufacturing unit at Gopnagar Chhak Haat in Bhanjanagar area of Ganjam on Saturday. During the raid, police apprehended three persons from the spot. A subsequent search led to the seizure of five country-made guns from their possession. The cops also recovered various tools, equipment and other materials allegedly being used for manufacturing and assembling illegal firearms. The arrested persons have been identified as Pagala Muli, Tukuna Muli and Prasanna Kumar Muli. The three accused have been produced in a local court, said Tarasing police IIC Shubhalaxmi Pujari. The police are continuing their investigation to ascertain the source of the materials and determine whether others were involved in the illegal firearm manufacturing operation.
