Rs 1.78L cash seized by Odisha Vigilance during searches against Drugs Inspector

Odisha Vigilance officials have so far seized unaccounted cash amounting to Rs 1.78 lakh during ongoing searches linked to a trap case involving Sanjaya Kumar Hansdah, Assistant Drugs Controller/Drugs Inspector, Jajpur, who is also in charge of Jagatsinghpur. According to Vigilance sources, Hansdah was booked in a trap case for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 6,000 to facilitate the issuance of a wholesale medicine licence. Simultaneous Searches On Following the registration of the case, Vigilance teams launched searches at places connected to the official. During the ongoing operation, officials reportedly recovered Rs 1,25,200 in cash from his office at Jagatsinghpur. In addition, another Rs 53,500 was allegedly recovered from Hansdah’s possession. Vigilance officials said both amounts were unaccounted for and were subsequently seized. With the latest recoveries, the total amount of cash seized during the searches has reached Rs 1,78,700. Caught With Rs 6K Bribe The searches are part of the investigation initiated after Hansdah was allegedly caught accepting Rs 6,000 as illegal gratification in connection with the processing of a wholesale medicine licence. Officials are now examining the source of the seized cash and other material, if any, recovered during the searches. Further verification of documents and financial transactions linked to the accused official is also expected to form part of the investigation.
