Sex racket busted in Odisha's Bolangir; couple among 7 arrested, 9 women rescued

A sex racket allegedly operated by a couple in Odisha 's Bolangir town has been busted by police, leading to the arrest of the couple and five other accused persons. Police also rescued nine women who were allegedly being forced into prostitution. According to the information available, the racket was allegedly involved in supplying women to different hotels in and around Bolangir for prostitution. The matter came to light after a minor girl allegedly became pregnant, following which police launched an investigation into the activities of the group. Nine Women Rescued, Investigation Underway During the investigation, police reportedly uncovered the involvement of the couple, who allegedly coordinated the racket and arranged for women to be sent to various hotels. The police subsequently conducted raids and arrested the two main accused along with five others allegedly linked to the racket. Nine women were rescued during the operation. Preliminary information suggests that most of the rescued women are from West Bengal. The authorities are also examining the role of hotels and other individuals allegedly connected with the operation.
