Ganja weighing 1.150 kg was seized from their possession. Sanchit Roy, 50, a native of Patna district in Bihar, shifted to Hyderabad about 10 years ago and worked at a dairy farm in Gummadidala for three years. For the past three years he has been working at Govind Rao Dairy Farm in Kardanoor for a monthly salary of ₹20,000. Mahesh Kumar, 32, also from Patna district, moved to Hyderabad two years ago and works as a security guard at Devi Parking Yard, opposite the dairy farm. He has been assisting Roy for the past year. Kishan Singh of Dhoolpet, the alleged supplier, is absconding. How the operation ran The farm owner, Govind Rao, started the dairy after losing his job in a private company, with financial assistance from institutions and known persons, and employed Roy and others to look after the cattle. As Govind Rao visits the farm only for a few hours in the early morning, the accused took advantage and began attracting customers to the farm to sell ganja. Roy had developed the habit of consuming ganja in Bihar. While working at Gummadidala, he came in contact with Kishan Singh, who supplied him the drug and continued to do so after he shifted to the present farm. Noting the large number of migrant labourers from Bihar, Assam, West Bengal and Uttar Pradesh in the surrounding areas who are habitual consumers, the accused began procuring ganja from Kishan Singh at ₹20,000 per kg. Roy prepared packets of 5 grams each and sold them at ₹300 per packet, with Mahesh Kumar assisting him. What began as a part-time business grew over the past year, and Roy became a known face among ganja consumers in the locality. On an average, 20 to 30 consumers approach him daily, with the number rising to 50-60 on Sundays. Consumers contact him on mobile and are told to come to a spot a short distance from the farm, where he delivers the packets and collects cash. He procures ganja twice or thrice a week, about 1 to 2 kg each time. On Saturday, when the two were selling ganja to consumers, police raided the farm and apprehended them along with four consumers. About 10 more consumers were identified. A case was registered under the NDPS Act at Patancheru police station, Sangareddy. Appeal to public EAGLE Force urged youth and students not to fall prey to drugs and asked parents to keep a watch on their children's activities. Information can be passed to police on 8712671111 or the toll-free number 1908, and to the EAGLE Force through its website, WhatsApp or email.
